Sunsail
Sailing Holidays, the company for sailors by sailors, announced at the
2008 Collins Stewart London Boat Show its expansion into the beautiful
Mediterranean cruising grounds of Italy and Sicily. The
new Sunsail bases, which offer bareboat and skippered sailing holidays,
are located in Tropea, on the southwest coast of Italy, and Palermo on the northwest coast of Sicily.
Tropea,
on the Calabrian coast of Italy, is the ideal departure point to visit
southern Italy, Sicily or the magical Aeolian Islands, only 30 miles
away. Successfully preserving its 16th century features, Tropea offers
both historical and architectural delights. The new Sunsail base is
located in the main marina, just an hour from the international
airport.
In Northwest Sicily, the capital Palermo offers the
cruising grounds of the Aegadian islands, Malta and Tunisia. Sicily is
well known for its unique natural beauty and the highest active volcano
in Europe ‘Mount Etna’. The coast offers a landscape of fascinating
beauty, with smaller islets scattered all around the coast. The Sunsail
base is 20 miles from Palermo International Airport and can also be
reached by ferry and hydrofoil from Naples.
“Following
popular demand, we are delighted to be present in this beautiful
region, solidifying Sunsail’s position as the foremost charter company
in the Mediterranean and providing new experiences for our guests” said Lex Raas, Sunsail President.
Sunsail
will offer a fleet of yachts from 31ft to 50ft with double cabins,
complete electronics and fully equipped galleys, for the ideal cruising
holiday. One-way charters are also available.
The new Italian
bases join recent base openings in Koh Chang, Thailand; Abacos,
Bahamas; Orhaniye, Turkey and a new environmentally-friendly location
in the British Virgin Islands.
