Lamezia, Tenders invited for a new air station contract ... The structure will have a capacity of 3.5 million passengers (WAPA) - S.A.CAL. SpA (Calabria airport management company) announced a competition for the construction of the new air station of Lamezia Terme airport. The current structure will stay operational until it won't be necessary anymore.
The target is to realize two or more structures, functionally autonomous, yet at the same time interconnected (to guarantee the correct flow of the passengers and airport operators) and fitted with an internal pedestrian and external carriageable links. A premium of EUR 10,000 will be assigned to the winner of the tender, besides INARCASSA and IVA. The second and third in the ranking will be awarded respectively with EUR 15,000 and 10,000, by way of refund. In the meantime for October 28th is scheduled the first flight of the new routes carried out by the low-cost airline Ryanair from Lamezia airport to Pisa and Bergamo-Orio al Serio. A project strongly desired by the numerous Calabrian community of Northern Italy which has welcomed the news with great satisfaction. The Irish carrier has communicated, "The trend of the bookings for the two flights to Pisa and Bergamo, both from Lamezia and to Lamezia, is excellent, absolutely satisfying, and reflects the commercial expectations of the airline".
