Total enquiries for Italy were 19%, almost one in five of all business, according to exchange experts, Foreign Currency Direct. The little-known area of Calabria – in Italy’s ‘toe’ – is ideal for investors looking for value for money and a ‘foothold’ in the area. Property is keenly priced, the cost of living is low and budget flights are available from the UK. No wonder it is a favourite of top TV property expert Amanda Lamb.

Budget carrier Ryanair flies from Stansted to Lamezia airport, just under three hours away.

Not only are property prices and airline fees competitive, food prices in Calabria are around half of those in the UK.
