According to ANSA, the number of people from Spain taking breaks in Italy went up by three per cent last year to almost two million...

This means that Spaniards account for the largest proportion of foreign visitors to thecountry, prompting authorities to do more to tap into this market.

For example, representatives of many bodies affiliated with the Italian tourist sector have recently

attended a travel fair in Madrid.

Promoting the country as a holiday destination could help to attract more people travelling to Italy for leisure, which would directly affect the demand for rental property in popular areas.

Lazio was highlighted as one of the biggest hotspots for Spanish tourists, along with Veneto and Tuscany.

This comes after research by A Place in the Sun magazine revealed that Britons considered Italy as one of their favourite property investment destinations.
